Highlights of the trip to Florida

There's so much to write about, but I'll try to keep it short. Jeff, Ansley and I went with my family to Seagrove Beach, Florida for a week and just returned. The town is in a cluster of other small towns (Grayton, Watercolor, Seaside, Alys, and Rosemary) and every year my parents rent the same house near the beach. I look forward to this trip all year and am always so sad to leave. Here are some of my favorite things from the trip:
-The oil wasn't a problem! We were pretty concerned that it would be and weren't even sure we were going to get to go. When we arrived last Saturday, there were a lot of tar balls on the beach and in the water. The oil was so sticky and stained our clothes and swimsuits. But, that was the worst day of it and the beaches were pretty clear for the rest of the week. There were crews out walking the beaches looking for oil several of those days though.
-Last Sunday morning Jeff, Kyle and I took the kayaks out past the sandbar and were greeted by about ten dolphins swimming all around us. They came to the surface for air, jumped completely out of the water, splashed and played with each other, and swam right under our kayaks. This show lasted about 20 minutes and I couldn't believe how close they were. They were so unafraid of us and I felt like I could just reach right out and touch them.
-We rented bikes and one had a baby seat on the back. We rode every day and Ansley absolutely loved it. We decided that I'm going to have to get a bike with one of those seats to ride her around town. I loved riding to Seaside and looking at all of the beautiful houses. They are all similar beach cottages that are two to three stories and painted pastel colors. When I build a house one day, these houses will be my inspiration. I LOVE them!
-We ate delicious food. My favorites were Shorty's in Grayton, the Southern Cafe in Seaside, and George's in Alys. We sat on the patio at George's and our view was the Hilton house on the beach. It's pretty strange looking.
-Playing 42 with Jeff, my brother, and my dad. And learning to play Texas Hold'em.
-Waking up at 5 am because it gets light so early there. We were on the beach by 7 am every morning.

I'm already looking forward to next year!
